Watch Warren Haynes Play Three Searing Solos on Gov’t Mule’s “Bring on the Music” Live Video

via Guitar Player

This Friday, July 19, Gov’t Mule will complement the recent release of their two-CD/double-vinyl live set, Bring on the Music – Live at the Capitol Theatre with a two-CD/double-DVD Deluxe Package and Blu-ray of the same name. You can catch a generous preview of the concert film above.

The nine-minute clip begins with an intimate backstage performance of the title song featuring just Warren Haynes on acoustic guitar and drummer Matt Abts on a conga. After the first verse, the video segues to the full band onstage in all its electric rock glory, and you get not one, not two, but three seismic Haynes solos.

“The title track, ‘Bring on the Music,’ is about loss and inevitable change, and also about the relationship between the band and our audience, which we feel extremely lucky to have,” Haynes told Guitar Player.

Filmed at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, on April 27 and 28, 2018, the nine-camera video shoot was directed by renowned music photographer and director Danny Clinch (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Phish). The release features more than two hours of live music, interviews with the band, behind-the-scenes footage, photos shot by Clinch over the years and more.

Among the highlights are scorching live takes of “Life Before Insanity” (the title track from Gov’t Mule’s 2000 studio album), “Mr. Man” (from their 2004 album, Déjà Voodoo) and several songs from the band’s most recent studio album, Revolution Come… Revolution Go.
